Thousands of programmes on the shortest night of summer

Gastronomy
Night of Museums

The Night of Museums will be held on 20 June; this year's ambassador for the country's largest cultural event is gastronomy writer Mautner Zsófia, and its featured city will be Sopron.

On the shortest night of summer, museums, galleries and exhibition spaces will welcome visitors at several hundred venues across the country with thousands of programmes – including concerts, guided tours, interactive experiences and family programmes.

This year's featured location will be Sopron, where the venues taking part include the Museum Quarter, the Firewatch Tower, the Lenck Villa and the Central Mining Museum. At the Lenck Villa, visitors can look forward to special astronomy programmes as well as gastronomy events, concerts and a costumed guided tour.

The Central Mining Museum offers interactive adventures, while in the Museum Quarter, alongside the permanent exhibitions, visitors can join a baking demonstration evoking the 1790s with the cooks of the Storno kitchen. The ambassador of the event, themed “Stories Sealed in Flavours” (Ízekbe zárt történetek), will be gastronomy writer and TV presenter Mautner Zsófia.

Several hundred institutions across the country are joining the cultural event again this year. The full programme is available on the event's official website, muzej.hu, where events can also be searched by venue, date and type of programme. Some programmes require advance registration.

The organisers are also preparing behind-the-scenes secrets, videos, interesting facts and prize draws on the Night of Museums Facebook and Instagram pages. The main organiser of the nationwide event is the Ministry for Social Relations and Culture.
