Gastronomy

A varied music line-up at Pécsi Napok

Gastronomy

Foreign and Hungarian bands, street musicians, folk dancers, wineries, craft stalls and demonstrations await visitors at this year’s Pécsi Napok (Pécs Days), from 23 to 27 September. This year, one of Pécs’s oldest city festivals is being held near the cathedral, under the chestnut trees of the Sétatér promenade.

On 23 September, PTE Táncoló Egyetem and the internationally successful PEAC Cheerleading Section will perform a show featuring dance, acrobatics and circus elements, followed by Pécs Music Society, while the German band Busy Dreams will give a funk and indie pop concert. The evening’s headliner will be Kéknyúl, and the day will close in Irem Kertje with ICDiP After, featuring live drums and pulsating Latin cumbia rhythms.

On the second day of the event, after a family dance house and a performance by the Martyn Ferenc Free School of Art, street musicians will play popular tunes, and from 9 pm the Pécs alternative ska band Kubalibre will take the stage.

From 25 to 27 September, the Pannon Philharmonic will give an open-air concert, the Voisingers choir will perform, folk dancers will take the stage, and the Elvis Projekt will evoke the golden age of rock ’n’ roll.

The festival will be crowned by the traditional Festival of Wine and Song (Bor és dal ünnepe), at which the Swing Ladies Trió will bring the elegance of the ’20s to the ’40s, closing the five-day festivities with chic swing versions of modern hits accompanied by a live band.

Admission to all programmes is free.
