Located next to Hungexpo, the four-star hotel is the latest development of the Budapest-based Mellow Mood Hotels chain; the building also houses an à la carte restaurant and a sky bar, open not only to hotel guests.
Created through the renovation of the former Expo Congress Hotel, the four-star hotel features clean pastel colours in line with modern tastes, both in its 160 comfortable rooms and in the refurbished public areas and conference rooms.
Equipped with high-quality audiovisual technology, Expo Tower’s conference rooms can accommodate up to 300 people in total, and the available rooms can be divided or combined in a variety of ways. The renovation was designed primarily with the needs of corporate and bleisure business travellers in mind.
“Expo Tower by Mellow Mood Hotels has an exceptional location – the entrance to Hungexpo is exactly a one-minute walk away. A large proportion of our guests come for conferences and events held at the exhibition centre or in our own conference rooms. They are a discerning clientele who travel a lot and often stay in hotels, with higher-than-average but well-defined expectations. With the renovated hotel and an excellent team, we will remain competitive and relevant for a long time to come,” said owners Sameer Hamdan and Awad Zuhair at the opening.
The new hotel’s director is Péli Szabolcs, who moved to Expo tér from within the group. Szabolcs was previously responsible for the Alta Moda Fashion Hotel and the Estilo Fashion Hotel in the city centre, and also worked as deputy director of sales at Mellow Mood Hotels’ head office.
Two new food and drink venues
Following a renovation lasting almost a year, the Exploré Restaurant, an à la carte restaurant also open to the general public, has opened on the ground floor, while the Exploré Sky Bar on the hotel’s top floor offers an exceptional panorama of Budapest.
“When developing the concept of the Exploré Restaurant and the Exploré Sky Bar, our clear aim was to treat them not as part of the hotel but as independent venues that anyone – including people living and working in the area – can visit during opening hours,” noted Varjú Viktor, Corporate Chef of Mellow Mood Hotels. “We felt that there are few really good, higher-quality places to eat and drink, not only in the hotel’s immediate neighbourhood but in the wider area too – and this is our answer.”
The two new venues – which can also be hired for corporate and private events – fit well into the Mellow Mood Hotels gastronomy portfolio, which has developed steadily in recent years and includes excellent places such as the SIMALIBA Belvárosi Csárda, ranked among Budapest’s top 5 restaurants on Tripadvisor, and the long-established Baalbek Libanoni Étterem.
Deliberate development across the group
The deliberate renewal of the hotel business began in 2020; Expo Tower by Mellow Mood Hotels is already the third property to be renewed, after the Impulso Fashion Hotel and the Alta Moda Fashion Hotel. The renovation of the three-star Baross City Hotel will also be completed this year.
“As one of the leading players in Budapest’s accommodation and hospitality sector, we consider it important to build a timeless portfolio, through modernisation and the continuous development of our products and services, that fully meets the changing needs of visitors to the capital. The Expo Congress Hotel was one of the group’s most successful properties, and with the opening of Expo Tower by Mellow Mood Hotels we want to develop even further,” added Veégh Máté, General Manager of Mellow Mood Hotels.
