Malom és Kacsa Boutique Hotel to open soon on the shore of Tata’s Old Lake

A new boutique hotel is opening in Tata on the shore of the picturesque Old Lake (Öreg-tó). Set in the historic Gyári Mill building, the Malom és Kacsa Boutique Hotel****superior welcomes guests with 23 premium rooms, a lakeside bistro, an event venue and warm, pet-friendly family hospitality – combining the values of the past with modern comfort.

The Malom és Kacsa ****superior Boutique Hotel will soon open its doors on the shore of the Old Lake in Tata. The hotel occupies the site of the Gyári Mill and a newly built extension, and with its premium-quality, family-style services it adds a fresh touch to Hungary’s boutique hotel scene. The existing bistro and event house – in the Czégényi Mill and Kalló Mill buildings – are thus now part of a complete whole.

The hotel offers 23 rooms and 2 apartments in several categories (Deluxe, Panorama, Interconnecting, Superior). Room amenities include a smart TV, minibar, capsule coffee machine and safe. Most rooms can accommodate a baby cot and are dog-friendly, with dedicated pet amenities – a bowl, a towel and treats – provided in the rooms.

Food lovers are welcomed by a lakeside bistro with panoramic views, serving dishes made from local ingredients alongside international classics, as well as gluten-free, vegan and children’s menus. Weekends are enlivened by live music evenings and cultural programmes, and smaller themed events are held frequently on the lakeshore – dinners, tastings and open-air concerts – further enhancing the uniqueness of the place.

The hotel’s event house has three rooms and two outdoor terraces, making it suitable for corporate or family events, team-building sessions and weddings for up to 100 people. Full technical equipment (projector, sound system, microphone, air conditioning) is provided.

Further services at Malom és Kacsa include free Wi-Fi, private parking, a sauna area, a gym, a lounge with a billiard table, bicycle hire, fishing and horse-riding opportunities, as well as regular programmes – exhibitions, concerts and community evenings – in the lakeside setting.

The creation of the hotel is not only a tourism development but also the revival of a built and intellectual heritage. Fifteen watermills once operated on the shore of the Old Lake; three of them – the Kalló, Czégényi and Gyári mills – have been rebuilt for hospitality, with modern interiors but preserved structural elements.
