Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre has opened. It is already the second hotel in Hungary for Accor’s premium brand, but it is only now making its Budapest debut, as the result of a partnership between Accor and Mogotel Hotel Group.

The latest additions to the portfolio of Swiss brand Mövenpick, founded in 1948 – the hotels recently opened in Poland (Wroclaw and Karpacz), as well as the hotels debuting in the near future, later this year, in Montenegro (Kotor), Croatia (Kvarner Bay), Italy (Bari and Mondello) and Greece (Sivota) – build on the brand’s plans for European expansion.

The four-star Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre combines the capital’s Art Nouveau heritage with Swiss hospitality, on Rákóczi út, next to Blaha Lujza tér.

Originally founded in 1911 as the Palace Hotel, the six-storey Art Nouveau building designed by Komor Marcell and Jakab Dezső was one of the most modern hotels of the last century. Its lobby, restaurant, staircase, lift and corridors are listed as heritage monuments.

“The expansion of the Mövenpick brand in Budapest supports our strategic objective of strengthening Accor’s premium portfolio in key Central and Eastern European markets, and Budapest plays a critical role in our regional growth ambitions,” said Frank Reul, Accor’s Vice President of Development for premium, midscale and economy hotel brands (Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Italy and Greece).

Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre will welcome guests with 227 freshly renovated rooms, and with its seven fully renovated conference rooms and a capacity of more than 300 people, it is also an ideal venue for business conferences, corporate meetings and special events.

The Swiss brand is also known for its culinary tradition – guests visiting the new hotel can experience this in the Palace restaurant. The menu, which combines authentic Hungarian flavours, modern techniques and Mövenpick’s signature dishes, offers a dining experience that evokes tradition. Mövenpick’s signature Chocolate Hour, held daily in the lobby, will be available here too.

The opening of the hotel is the result of another successful partnership between Accor and Mogotel Hotel Group. Operating hotels in the Baltics as well as in Sweden, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine, the group has twenty years of experience in hospitality and tourism. Mövenpick Hotel Budapest Centre is regarded as an important milestone in the group’s regional expansion, according to their press release.
