Once again we travel back in time to the year Day Holiday was founded. Let's see what the founders might have been talking about when they weren't busy planning their new business – in other words, what happened in March 1995:
• Valeri Polyakov returns to Earth after a record-breaking 438 days in space. Remarkably, after landing he walks to the transport vehicle on his own feet – proving that with proper training the loss of bone and muscle mass can be reduced.
• A blind teenage boy receives a “bionic eye” at a hospital in Washington.
• Michael Johnson sets a world record in the indoor 400 metres.
• Camilla Parker Bowles and her husband, a retired army brigadier, divorce after 21 years of marriage.
• After barely two years of marriage, American actress Julia Roberts and American singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett also go their separate ways.
• The chickenpox vaccine is approved in the USA.
• Forrest Gump wins six Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. Ever since, we have known that life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.
We'll be back in April with more interesting news!
