Named after one of Hungary's greatest composers, Hunguest Hotel Erkel***/**** warmly welcomes its guests in pleasant surroundings and a friendly atmosphere.

The hotel is located in the southern part of the Great Plain, in Gyula – a charming historic spa town with a mild climate and the birthplace of Ferenc Erkel – next to the boating lake, surrounded by ancient trees that tell of bygone times, and the Gothic brick castle, more than five hundred years old, with direct access to the five-star Castle Bath.

…. where you will find everything you need to relax!

……where the experience is completed by Hungarian flavours and the characteristic tastes of the “Viharsarok” (Storm Corner) region! The hotel's three-star Munkácsy wing has 122 rooms: 97 standard double rooms and 25 spacious, air-conditioned superior rooms, 2 of which have accessible bathrooms (suitable for guests with reduced mobility accompanied by a carer). Some of the modernly furnished rooms with showers offer a wonderful view of the Castle Garden, the boating lake and the castle. Every room has a colour television and a telephone, and a small fridge can be rented for a fee. Our superior and accessible superior rooms offer extended services: we have equipped them with a DVD player and an in-room safe. Entire non-smoking floors and rooms are available to our visitors. The three-star part of our hotel has no balconies.
Our four-star Dürer wing welcomes those in need of rest with 173 standard double rooms, 4 junior suites, 5 large suites overlooking the castle and 4 accessible rooms (with specially designed bathrooms). Some of the rooms with showers and balconies offer a wonderful view of the
Castle Garden and the boating lake. In line with today's expectations, every room is air-conditioned and equipped with an LCD TV, minibar, telephone and in-room safe! Smoke-free floors and rooms await our valued guests.
Both wings have Wi-Fi!

The boutique-style Orchidea Restaurant seats 300 people and our retro-style Nosztalgia Restaurant 160,
and in both, guests can discover the flavours of international cuisine and local specialities alongside Hungarian specialities. The head chef's selection includes dishes typical of our region and vegetarian dishes, and our colleagues also do their best to meet the wishes of guests with special dietary requirements. Everyone will find something to their taste in the rich buffet breakfast and dinner. In our Violin café we offer a wide selection of speciality coffees and excellent drinks, including specialities from Hungary's wine regions!

…where the success of your events is guaranteed!

… where nature, culture and people live in harmony!

Sunlit plains, meadows, vast pastures, floodplains and reed beds along the picturesque Körös rivers, surrounded by forests, idyllic gardens and
orchards, graceful villages and small towns, among them Gyula, a town of 32,000 inhabitants a few kilometres from the Hungarian–Romanian border crossing. Here cultural diversity is part of everyday life: Hungarian, German and Romanian influences shape the customs, the cuisine, the music and the small moments of life. Thanks to this togetherness, this way of thinking and this persistent cooperation, in recent years the town centre has been renewed, a pedestrian street and a fountain system have been built, and ten thousand flowers line the streets – with the result that Gyula won first place in the town category of the For a Flowery Hungary competition in 2007 and 2013. Perhaps it says everything about the town that in 2008 it was awarded the title of Hungarian Town of Culture in recognition of its 700-year history, its carefully preserved historical monuments, its support for public collections and, not least, its rich cultural programmes. Today, “summer” here lasts from the New Year's concert to the New Year's Eve ball. As they say, “..something is always happening in Gyula!”

Immerse yourself in it too, and let your stay here enrich you as well as rest you!

…where every drop is an experience!

Come and benefit from extensive medical expertise, find your life balance and regain your vitality!

Visit us and recharge your energy: with the power of water, with the tempting delights flowing from our kitchens, gardens and orchards and their fine fruit brandies, with the scent of Great Plain spices, with the town's intellectual life, our folk celebrations and festivals, surrounded by friendly people. We look forward to welcoming you with your family and loved ones to enjoy the pleasures of life together!

At the Erkel Hotel, Harmónia Wellness takes care of our hotel guests' refreshment, relaxation and rest. Our wellness and fitness facilities
include Finnish and infrared saunas, a steam cabin, a solarium, an experience shower, JADE stone massage beds and a fitness room. Wonderful massages help create perfect physical and mental harmony.

Gyula's Castle Bath, more than fifty years old, lies in the two-hundred-year-old park of the former Almássy Castle, a protected nature area of 8.5 hectares, made special by fifty kinds of evergreens, two hundred and fifty kinds of deciduous trees and shrubs, fifty thousand square metres of well-kept lawn and more than twenty thousand colourful flowers.

At the end of 2013 the Castle Bath was expanded with an adventure complex of more than 6,000 square metres and nearly 900 square metres of water surface. This is the new AQUAPALOTA!

The Castle Bath (excluding the AquaPalota) boasts 5,000 square metres of water surface and 19 indoor and outdoor pools. Besides the various medicinal and adventure pools and the 50-metre competition pool, which can also be used in winter, children can enjoy their own water paradise, and adults the services of the Wellness Centre and the Castello Sauna Park. In addition to the 72 °C medicinal water rising from a depth of 2,005 metres, the Castle Bath's 2,000-square-metre medical department and its rheumatology clinic provide professional treatment for our guests. The alkaline hydrogen-carbonate chloride medicinal water is highly effective primarily in treating degenerative musculoskeletal disorders, local neuralgia, acid-related stomach complaints and gynaecological conditions, as well as for rehabilitation after accidents and surgery.

…where age doesn't matter!

According to opinion polls, we have for years been among the top three hotels most popular with pensioners. We have achieved this through pensioner-friendly services, in addition to the hotel's location – the Castle Bath can be reached via a direct corridor – and the hospitality of our staff.
