Első Pesti Rétesház, unique in Hungary, opened in 2007 in the heart of Budapest in a listed building dating from 1812. Its mission is to preserve, pass on and popularise this truly Hungarian tradition – the experience of making and eating strudel – and to enrich its guests with gastronomic adventures that have weight, history and value.
Strudel making is a tradition and an art. A tradition we have preserved for centuries, and an art, since only masters can make it perfectly. It is hard to describe in words how a good strudel is made. History, passion and care are baked into the rich layers of its long-stretched, wafer-thin pastry.
In our strudel house, these splendid delicacies are made by hand in an authentic setting, following an original recipe and many years of experience, using the purest ingredients and high-gluten Hungarian flour, so that our visitors can enjoy the special experience we owe to Hungarian wheat and to the inimitable preparation process that is so difficult to master.
Első Pesti Rétesház believes that quality and substance are essential in every area of life.
Taste our strudels, made with the greatest care, and you will immediately understand and feel the values hidden between the layers!
Whether you are visiting with friends, on business or just dropping in, our restaurant welcomes you from 9 am with a wide selection of food and drink – and, of course, delicious strudels!
Our strudel house is an ideal setting for meetings, before or after work, or simply for a chat in your free time.
A fitting venue for business lunches and dinners, with an elegant Hungarian touch.
