A special cultural venue opens its doors in April in Fonyód, next to the Napsugár campsite: Cinema Fonyód is launching, aiming to be not just a new cinema but a versatile, vibrant cultural space.
What makes the 120-seat screening room unique is that it boldly pushes its boundaries: alongside film screenings, the programme will also feature author talks, theatre evenings, stand-up shows and audience meet-and-greets, Turizmus.com reports, citing librarius.hu.
The screen is impressive in size – 28 square metres – and a stage has been built in front of it, allowing events that go beyond the cinema’s function to find a home there too.
According to the operators, Cinema Fonyód does not intend to operate as a “traditional” cinema, but as a space where viewers are not mere spectators but can be part of the experience. The organisers will launch the new venue with a theatre evening, signalling that stage genres will also play a prominent role alongside film.
