This special venue, which presents how the Union works using multimedia tools, can be visited free of charge all year round, but on 3–4 October the space will also be filled with colourful programmes, games and creative activities.
The European Parliament and the European Commission are setting up experience centres in every EU capital which, with the help of state-of-the-art interactive stations and tools – a 360-degree cinema, role play – present how the EU works and everyday life in Europe, share the views of EU citizens, and also cover the most important and latest local and EU news and events.
At the Experience Europe centre, personal stories show how European Union policies affect us and shape our everyday lives. The facilities also serve as an event venue in their own right, while the individual stations can be explored as an exhibition.
The Budapest centre is the 17th of its kind. Similar facilities can be found in Berlin, Ljubljana, Helsinki, Strasbourg, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Paris, Athens, Rome, Vienna, Warsaw, Prague, Stockholm, Luxembourg, Dublin and Zagreb.
Among the stations and tools of the interactive experience centre, the immersive cinema deserves a mention, where visitors can “journey through the world of the EU institutions with the help of a short film”, as does the role-play, in which visitors step into the shoes of a Member of the European Parliament and experience first-hand how European Union legislation is made.
In early October, however, a special open weekend will offer visitors to the experience centre even more:
- Outdoor programmes on Szervita tér: quizzes about the EU and Denmark’s EU Presidency, a wheel of fortune, a maze game, creative workshops and a DJ await young and old alike.
- Creative crafts: make unique gifts from recycled materials.
- Children’s programmes: face painting, glitter tattoos, colouring sheets, flag-making and other games will keep the youngest visitors entertained.
- Programmes in the experience centre: a VR experience, interactive installations, a 360° cinema and a photo booth.
During the open weekend, visitors are welcome on Szervita tér on Friday 3 October between 14:00 and 18:00, and on Saturday 4 October between 10:00 and 18:00.
