In December, the Pantone Color Institute unveiled PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse as its Colour of the Year for 2025: a versatile, sophisticated soft brown shade that conjures a sense of warmth and also reflects the importance of small indulgences.
More than 10 million designers and manufacturers worldwide rely on Pantone's products and services to define and control colour from inspiration to realisation. Every year the Pantone Color Institute selects a colour that captures the global zeitgeist – the Colour of the Year expresses a general mood in the form of a single, unique shade. The programme aims to involve people in the choice and to highlight the connection between colour and culture.
The Pantone Color Institute announced its Colour of the Year for the 26th time, this year presenting Mocha Mousse at events around the world. At the first stop of Pantone's international tour, on 5 December, the London Eye lit up the London sky in Mocha Mousse.
With its refined, earthy elegance, Mocha Mousse can stand on its own or serve as a versatile base. The brown shade evokes cocoa, chocolate and coffee, and speaks to our desire for comfort. The 2025 Colour of the Year brings harmony between the demands of modern life and the timeless beauty of artistic creation. Sophisticated and luscious yet classic, the colour is also closely connected to our natural environment.
Mocha Mousse succeeds Peach Fuzz, the 2024 Colour of the Year, which was a soft blend of pink and orange.
