Once again, we can recall many interesting memories from October 1995 – let's see what happened 30 years ago.
• The Lágymányos Bridge, which today appears on maps as the Rákóczi Bridge, is opened to traffic. Interestingly, the new name honours not only Ferenc Rákóczi II but also recalls the memory of the entire, historically outstanding Rákóczi family.
• Dutch telephone numbers are extended to 10 digits to meet growing demand.
• Latvia, just four years after regaining its independence, officially applies to join the European Union. It becomes a full member in 2004.
• Queen Elizabeth II knights Cliff Richard, making him the first rock star to receive this honour.
• Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, in South Korea, Park Jimin is born – the young man who later becomes known as Jimin, a member of BTS, and shines as a new star in the K-pop firmament.
