World Dog Day: dog-friendly accommodation and restaurants

Gastronomy
Dog-friendly accommodation

The list includes hotels, quiet country guesthouses and apartments where everything is geared to the comfort of guests with dogs, while the gastronomic side is represented by dog-friendly bistros, cafés, patisseries and ice-cream parlours where four-legged guests are also welcome.

Fortunately, there are now many places to stay and eat across the country where our dogs can come along with us. We have gathered them together here:

Eger
Located in the historic city centre, Margaréta Garden & SPA is a stylish four-star “mini-hotel” whose dog-friendly services are unique in the region. Every room can be booked with a dog, the breakfast room is also dog-friendly, and the garden offers plenty of places for four-legged guests to play and rest.

Mecseknádasd
In the heart of the Mecsek hills lies the Erdővölgye Vendégház, an exceptionally dog-friendly place to stay. There are no restrictions on breed, size or number of dogs, and the house is fully equipped and escape-proof for dogs. A large, shady yard is available where dogs can play freely, while the surroundings of the guesthouse offer numerous hiking trails.

Harkány
The Dráva Hotel Thermal Resort Harkány also warmly welcomes both two-legged and four-legged guests and, as dog-friendly accommodation, ensures the comfort of pets too, writes the kutyabarat.hu magazine. “The hotel welcomes dog owners with special services and comfortable accommodation, so every member of the family can enjoy their break.” The natural surroundings nearby offer excellent opportunities for walks and exploratory hikes together in the Baranya countryside.

Vigándpetend
The unique, award-winning design cabins of Kapolcsi Sziklák are located in the heart of the Balaton Uplands, between Kapolcs and Vigántpetend. Pets are welcome at this dog-friendly accommodation, albeit with one small condition: the dog must not weigh more than 15 kilograms.

Székesfehérvár
In the historic centre of Székesfehérvár, Damniczki Cukrászda offers treats to those who fancy ice cream, cakes and coffee – and, of course, to their dogs. According to Kutyabarát Magazin, the patisserie boasts numerous professional and international awards. One of the summer’s big hits was the dog ice cream made for four-legged guests entirely from fruit – banana, apple pulp, peanut butter and blueberries – but visitors are warmly welcomed all year round, as the patisserie received a special award in the 2024 Dog-Friendly Place of the Year category.

Budapest
On the bank of the Rákos stream in Zugló you will find Stardogs café, where guests arriving with or without a dog are equally welcome. Various treats, dog biscuits, toys and useful accessories are available for four-legged visitors, and they can run around freely in the space. And while the dogs play and happily sniff around, their owners can enjoy the café’s offering: speciality coffees, refreshing smoothies, lemonades and mouth-watering cakes.

Keszthely
Klassz Kultbisztró is at once a community space, a cultural centre, a tapas bar, a wine bar and a café. It welcomes owners and their dogs with special Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, refreshing cocktails, Balaton wines and craft beers.
