Last December, Hajdúszoboszló's iconic hotel, the Hunguest Béke, reopened its doors, renewed inside and out. The four-star wellness hotel of Hunguest Hotels, part of OPUS GLOBAL, has a direct link to the thermal baths and welcomes guests with 204 refurbished rooms and event capacity for more than 400 people.

Since 1963 the Hunguest Béke has been a defining symbol of tourism in Hajdúszoboszló and one of its best-known hotels, not only in Hungary but also in neighbouring countries. After a renovation lasting several years, the hotel reopened its doors to guests on 17 December.

During the project, the Hunguest Béke underwent comprehensive modernisation and redesign: the guest rooms, communal areas, reception, lobby and restaurant were refurbished, and the former Béke Fürdő (Béke Baths) was also given a makeover. The reopening four-star hotel thus has a total of 204 renewed units, including 165 double rooms, 20 interconnecting family rooms, 12 apartments, 4 accessible rooms and 3 suites.

As a result of the development, with particular attention paid to the needs of families, 20 interconnecting family rooms and 95 family rooms that can comfortably take an extra bed have been created, and from March qualified entertainers will be on hand every weekend for the youngest guests.

The hotel also boasts one of the largest event capacities in the region: its divisible event rooms, with a capacity of more than 400 people, provide an ideal venue for business events and conferences.

The renewed services and modernised spaces offer Hunguest Béke guests an unparalleled experience, whether they are there to relax or on business.

Alongside the striking interior redesign, and in keeping with Hunguest Hotels' sustainability goals, the renovation project also delivered major mechanical and energy upgrades. The rooms' former heating and cooling systems have been replaced by modern, individually adjustable thermostats, energy-saving LED lighting is used throughout the hotel, and all windows and doors have been replaced.

In addition, the furniture, mattresses, minibars, in-room safes and televisions were replaced in every room, as were the shower cubicles as part of a complete bathroom refurbishment, to provide a modern, comfortable and energy-efficient environment.

“We are delighted that Hajdúszoboszló's legendary hotel, the Hunguest Béke, can welcome guests again after a complete renewal. By opening another 204 rooms within our development programme, we are not only expanding our offering but also taking our guests' comfort and experiences to a new level,” said Ádám Détári-Szabó, CEO of Hunguest Hotels and member of the Board of Directors of OPUS GLOBAL.

The former Béke Fürdő has undergone a mechanical and design renovation, and under its new name, Béke Thermal & Spa, it remains open not only to hotel guests but also to other tourists visiting the town and to Hajdúszoboszló residents. Local residents can also use the services of the hotel's own spa world at a discount.

With its versatile portfolio of services, the hotel targets several guest segments, and in 2025 it expects lively domestic demand as well as significant numbers of returning international guests.

The reopening of the Hunguest Béke could boost Hajdúszoboszló's tourism performance by some 100,000 guest nights a year, while creating nearly 100 new jobs in the town and contributing to the development of the local economy.

State funding awarded under the Kisfaludy Szálláshelyfejlesztési Konstrukció (Kisfaludy Accommodation Development Scheme) covers 50 per cent of the Hunguest Béke's development budget, i.e. HUF 1,290,200,000. The owner, OPUS GLOBAL Nyrt., provided the required own contribution, enabling the hotel's comprehensive renewal and the achievement of the development goals, their press release emphasises.

As part of a large-scale development programme covering Hunguest Hotels' properties, nearly 2,000 rooms and hotel floor space equivalent to 480 tennis courts in total were renewed between 2020 and 2024. The full reconstruction of the Hunguest Béke in Hajdúszoboszló is also part of the programme, which is set to go down in the history of Hungarian tourism as the largest hotel renovation project in the country's history.
