Forestay Group and its strategic financial partner, Recorde Asset Management, have announced that they have signed an agreement with Marriott International Inc. on the opening of a dual-brand hotel development in Budapest.
The hotel opening, planned for autumn 2026, will take place at Váci utca 81, on the city's best-known downtown pedestrian street. The development comprises a 217-room Moxy hotel and a Residence Inn offering 72 suites. The project aims to combine Moxy's energetic, lifestyle-focused hospitality with the comfort and functionality of Residence Inn, which is also suited to longer stays – a combination that aligns well with the constantly evolving expectations of today's travellers.
“Váci utca is one of Budapest's busiest, most dynamic locations, so we see enormous potential in giving the Váci Utca Center office building a new function with the Marriott brand,” said Botos Bálint, managing partner of Forestay Group, adding: “The dual-brand concept allows us to target several segments of the hospitality market within one project, with lively public spaces, flexible accommodation options and a design-led approach that reflects Budapest's architectural heritage.”
The historic charm and excellent location of the pedestrian street, just a few steps from major tourist attractions, cultural landmarks and business centres, provide an ideal setting for this hotel development. The accommodation options, suited to both short and longer stays, meet the needs of international visitors and long-term guests alike, while the ground-floor shops and community-oriented services will also create attractive spaces for local residents.
“Both hotels will welcome travellers to the Hungarian capital with distinctive experiences and services. We are excited to follow the continued growth of Budapest, which is becoming one of Europe's most important leisure and business destinations,” said Pankaj Birla, Regional Vice President for Eastern Europe at Marriott International.
Moxy Hotels brings its bold, playful energy to life with a vibrant lobby and dynamic social spaces, while Residence Inn offers thoughtfully designed suites suited to longer stays, with spacious work areas and guest amenities that support a balanced, independent lifestyle.
