From 1 October, a new Danubius Hotels property will welcome guests in the heart of Budapest: the current H2 Hotel Budapest is joining the hotel chain under the name Danubius Hotel District V. With the arrival of the 157-room downtown hotel, the number of Danubius hotels will rise to 17.
Located in Budapest’s 5th district, the hotel further strengthens Danubius’s presence in the capital with an excellent downtown location. Thanks to its proximity to St Stephen’s Basilica, Parliament, the Chain Bridge and the Danube embankment, the hotel is popular with individual and group leisure travellers and business guests alike.
The new name also puts the location centre stage: Danubius Hotel District V refers to Budapest’s fifth district. With its modern, urban character, it adds a new colour to the Budapest portfolio of Danubius Hotels and complements the chain’s existing properties well.
Another important step in Danubius’s growth
The addition of Danubius Hotel District V is a long-awaited moment in the development of the hotel chain. The expansion also signals the long-term commitment of the British owner, CP Holdings, to the further growth of Danubius Hotels.
“We have long been working to expand our portfolio with a new hotel, so we are especially delighted to be able to take another important step now. With Danubius Hotel District V, we are further strengthening our presence in one of Budapest’s best downtown locations. From 1 October, we will be welcoming guests at 17 hotels. With the support of our owner, we will continue to develop and grow Danubius, seeking out new opportunities that further strengthen our position in the domestic and international hotel market,” said Kovács Balázs, CEO of Danubius Hotels Zrt.
Danubius expands with a new management agreement
The building of Danubius Hotel District V is owned by LGT Immo Kft., a member of the Austrian ILAG Group, which has concluded a long-term agreement with Danubius to operate the hotel. The mandate further strengthens Danubius’s role in the Hungarian hotel market and marks another important step in the company’s growth strategy.
“We were looking for a hotel management partner with a stable professional background, significant local market experience and high-quality hotel operating expertise. In Danubius, we have found a reliable, long-term partner whose expertise and strong presence in Hungary provide a sound basis for the hotel’s continued successful operation and development,” said Zupkó Éva, managing director of LGT Immo Kft.
The owner was assisted in selecting the operator by the real estate adviser Newmark VLK Hungary. On behalf of the company, managing director Takács Péter said: “We saw great interest in operating the hotel from both domestic and international players, which confirmed that Budapest is a leading European tourist destination. A building with such a central location and in excellent technical condition is an outstanding long-term investment for its owners and a good expansion opportunity for an experienced operator.”
A close-knit team is joining Danubius too
Danubius Hotel District V joins the hotel chain from 1 October without interrupting operations. Together with the hotel, its close-knit team of 20 will continue their work within the Danubius community, so guests will still be welcomed by colleagues who know the hotel well.
In recent years, Danubius has spent some HUF 50 billion on developing and renovating its hotels. Alongside these investments, the hotel chain also intends to further strengthen its market presence through new business and operating opportunities.
With the addition of Danubius Hotel District V, Danubius grows stronger still, with another excellent downtown location and new business opportunities.
