In 1995, too, students went back to school. But it was not only schools that came alive – there are plenty of exciting events to look back on from September 1995:
• One of the most exciting archaeological events of the year: excavation of the remains of the Pharos lighthouse begins in Alexandria. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is back in the spotlight.
• The release of the first DVDs is announced. The era of video cassettes is slowly coming to an end, and the way opens for digital experiences.
• Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman and Gwyneth Paltrow, the now cult thriller Se7en hits cinemas. It has remained a firm favourite with film fans ever since.
• The BBC opts for romance and premieres a new television adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice. The role of Mr Darcy makes Colin Firth a star.
• Day Holiday is already proving itself with successful events for its new clients Eli Lilly, Ernst&Young and Masterfoods. The early enthusiasm bears its first fruit.
