The castle stands at the foot of the beautiful Mátra Mountains, in Parádsasvár. The landscape and the stunning views of the Mátra are only the beginning of a magical stay at the hotel! Kastélyhotel Sasvár Resort is 100 km from Budapest and can be reached via main road 3 or the M3 motorway, then from Gyöngyös via main road 24.

Guests can be accommodated in three wings: the buildings named Renaissance, Rendez-vous and Romantique have a total of 53 standard rooms, 5 suites and 1 apartment, accommodating 140 people in total.

The Renaissance wing is the main building itself, home to the function rooms and the elegant suites. The four-storey tower section houses the Monarchia Room, the Millennium Room, the Sala Terrena Salon, the Károlyi Salon, the Geraldine Salon and the Bellevue lookout. The furnishings of the building are in walnut-brown tones and reflect an elegance worthy of the wing’s name. This part of the building is furnished in Biedermeier and Empire style. The first floor of the wing is the Piano Nobile, the noble floor. On the east side of this floor are three suites: the György, the Karolin and the Rákóczi princely suite. In addition to the suites facing the forest, five rooms overlooking the courtyard of honour also await guests on the first floor. On the second floor there are two suites with a special atmosphere, the Mihály and the Katinka, as well as 8 rooms, also in the attic, to choose from.

The eight rooms of the Rendez-vous wing can create lasting memories for honeymooners and couples in love. The furnishings in this part of the building are in cherry tones, with mauve as the dominant colour. The beds are decorated with tulle canopies. The windows look out onto the forest and the heart-shaped lake in the castle park.

The Romantique wing houses 32 rooms and the apartment. Of the green-toned rooms, 28 have two separate beds and 8 can take an extra bed. This wing also has 3 rooms with elegant vinyl flooring for guests arriving with dogs, as well as an accessible room. The Romantique wing is also home to the restaurant, the gym and the wellness area.

The wellness area, which has undergone major changes in recent years, has not only been renovated but has also gained new attractions.
Every relaxation facility needed for a pampering break is provided: an indoor leisure pool, indoor jacuzzi, Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, hay sauna, beer sauna, salt cabin, steam cabin and Kneipp walk, as well as an outdoor panoramic jacuzzi and an outdoor leisure pool (open seasonally), await guests looking to relax.

Function rooms

Monarchia Room: Perhaps the most beautiful room in the castle is the 117-square-metre, granite-floored, air-conditioned Monarchia Room, perfect for conferences, gatherings or even as a dance floor. Large doors in the room’s east wall lead out to a terrace of around 57 square metres, an excellent spot for refreshments in summer (in bad weather, the neighbouring café provides a space for this). It seats 100 people in theatre layout, and a maximum of 80–90 guests for a wedding meal.

Millenium Room: The castle hotel took on its current form amid the fervour of preparations for the millennium, thanks to the designs of Miklós Ybl. The Millennium event room is intended to reflect this atmosphere. The 62 m², carpeted, air-conditioned room also opens onto the large terrace. It currently hosts the Hungarian Sports Stars Exhibition, but can also be used for other events.

Sala Terrena Salon: The salon is on the ground floor, next to the two rooms above, with a small terrace on its south side, and, as its name suggests (“earth mother”), a small door leads out into the park. It is a fitting venue for important private occasions, offering a calm setting and backdrop for small meetings (of up to 20 people).

Károlyi Salon: located on the first floor of the castle, it can be reached by lift or even by the spiral staircase, which survives in its original form. This room currently houses a doll exhibition, the library and a private billiard table. On request, it can be used for small events (of up to 15 people).

Geraldine Salon: Located on the third floor, this salon is the only part to have survived in its original state, and can be reached from the ground floor by the spiral staircase leading up to the tower. Its windows open up a wonderful panorama for guests. It is the only room on this floor, making it perfect for private events (of up to 15 people). It currently houses the playroom.

Bowling room: Located in the underground connecting corridor, the room is a popular evening venue for groups, who can enjoy themselves undisturbed until the early hours. The bowling room has 2 lanes, arcade machines, simulators, billiards, table football and a squash court. Guests are served by a beer bar. The room is recommended for up to 40 people.

Grill terrace: The grill terrace and cocktail bar are right beside the outdoor pool. It is a perfect venue for more informal events or larger gatherings of friends, for up to 120 people. Guests can enjoy freshly grilled and smoked dishes with a cocktail, and can also use the pool. It is seasonal and can only be booked during the summer months.

Aquilla Restaurant

When it comes to food, the castle’s gastronomy is also outstanding. The dishes prepared by the chefs of the hotel’s own restaurant offer a true culinary experience every time; made from fresh ingredients, they are varied and delicious, so every guest is sure to find something to suit their taste. The hotel staff strive to meet every personal request, prepare a tailored proposal for every event and, of course, look after guests on special diets. Guests can also take part in organised wine and pálinka tastings.

Leisure facilities

The castle offers a wide range of sports and entertainment. These include outdoor sports facilities (weather permitting) such as a tennis court, basketball court, beach volleyball court, table tennis, bicycle hire, boating and even laser tag, while indoors there is chess, backgammon, an escape room, PlayStation, a children’s playroom, a bowling alley, a squash court, billiards, table football and a 4K car and motorbike simulator.

Parking: 60 designated parking spaces are available within the castle grounds, at HUF 1,000 per vehicle per night.
Outdoor pools: the outdoor pool is open seasonally only, while the panoramic outdoor jacuzzi can be used every day of the year.
Entertainment: available on request during peak periods.
