Spring Festival, Siófok

Organised by the Kálmán Imre Cultural Centre, the events aim to let locals and visitors to Lake Balaton alike experience the diversity of the arts – from theatre through music to dance, from family programmes to special guest performances.

The festival opens on 20 March with an exhibition opening: the exhibition by costume and set designer Katalin Juhász offers a behind-the-scenes look at designing stage costumes and sets. The first weekend features a memorial concert, literary and musical evenings, and an arts production by the Perczel Mór Grammar School, proving that young talents and experienced performers shape the town's cultural life together.

The programme also includes classical music evenings and inspiring talks that bring audiences closer to the world of the artists.

The festival has real treats in store for theatre lovers: the comedy “Barefoot in the Park” (Mezítláb a parkban) promises light entertainment and also marks World Theatre Day. The guest performance by the Fórum Színház approaches everyday life with humour and self-irony. The concert by the Klezmerész Ensemble offers a special musical experience. The literary evening linked to Hungarian Poetry Day creates an intimate atmosphere through the works of Attila József, performed by Hobo. The Balaton Bellydance Festival livens up the theatre with exotic rhythms, while Zorán's concert invites the audience on a musical journey that connects generations.

In April the entertainment becomes even more varied.
“Libikóka”, laced with black humour, the musical romance “Frida” and a magical guest performance by Illúzió mesterei (Masters of Illusion) guarantee quality entertainment. The organisers have also thought of families: the show “Hamupipőke” (Cinderella) will enchant the youngest. Classical music lovers will not miss out either, as the concert by Miklós Teleki and Zsuzsa Berényi showcases the beauty of chamber music, while the programme Tánckavalkád (Dance Cavalcade) closes the series with a spectacular gala show on International Dance Day.
