Since 2018, the Hungarian Baths Association has held the Sauna-Goers' Weekend (Szaunázók Hétvégéje) every year on the first weekend of October, intended as the opening event of the sauna season. In addition to a varied programme, at a set time we can take a sauna simultaneously in dozens of baths across the country, to the same music, choreography and scents. In 2025, the nationwide event takes place on 4–5 October.
The baths can decide for themselves which sauna programmes they offer on the weekend. What matters, however, is that every year on Saturday at 4 pm, at the designated time, participants in all participating saunas can enjoy the same themed programme.
Depending on the venue, sauna lovers can choose from a bio sauna, steam room or infrared sauna in addition to the traditional Finnish sauna. All of these help strengthen the immune system and detoxify the body, improve circulation, boost metabolism and relieve stress.
The participating baths cover every region of the country, so almost everyone can find a venue near where they live. At several venues the hot air usually starts flowing as early as Friday afternoon, with qualified sauna masters awaiting those keen to work up a sweat. In 2025, the Hungarian Baths Association is again organising a central event, starting on Saturday 4 October at 4 pm. At that time, the same sauna programme is presented in every participating bath across the country: the same music, choreography and scents complete the experience – as has now become tradition.
In addition to the joint programme mentioned above, every bath holds a whole series of aufguss sessions, several stay open longer, and in previous years some baths have even offered discounts on this occasion or provided otherwise paid services free of charge.
At several venues, saunas stretching into the evening and night are combined with night bathing, creating a special atmosphere over the weekend.
