On Saturday 5 September, the lower embankment in Pest will be transformed into an unusual ice hockey venue for a day. The event Veletek a Rakpartra! (“Join Us on the Rakpart!”) will open the 2026/2027 ice hockey season on id. Antall József rakpart, at the bus bay in front of Pontoon.
On average, 25,000 people visit the lower embankment every weekend. This time, besides ice hockey players and fans, those who have so far followed the sport only from the stands or on screen will also be able to experience it up close.
At the programme marking the start of the Erste Liga season, visitors can meet former and current national team players, and ice hockey can not only be watched but also tried out. A variety of demonstrations, further interactive activities, games and prizes await visitors.
The initiative aims to bring ice hockey closer to the people of Budapest, draw a new audience into the world of the sport and show that, as a community experience, it also works in a venue as special as the Rakpart.
Veletek a Rakpartra! is organised in cooperation between the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation, Rakpart, the Municipality of Budapest, the Budapest Cultural Centre and Pontoon.
