Held for the second time, Füge Feszt (Fig Fest) will turn the Egry József beach in Badacsony into a true gastronomy festival from 10 to 12 October: we can enjoy the golden colours of the lakeshore accompanied by fragrant wines, creative dishes and live music.
Three days all about culinary experiences, community and the inimitable atmosphere of autumn at Lake Balaton.
“We think autumn at Lake Balaton is the most magical: the vineyard hills are dressed in golden colours, the surface of the lake calmly reflects the sunlight, and in the air you can smell both the harvest and the coolness of the approaching evening. At the Füge Feszt in October on the beach in Badacsony, all of this meets gastronomic experiences: characterful wine in our glass, special dishes on our plate, and around us Lake Balaton and the country's best chefs, winemakers and pastry chefs. The jazz and pop music on stage is the perfect accompaniment for letting go of the summer rush and surrendering to the slower but all the more flavoursome rhythm of autumn. Füge Feszt is a true celebration of gastronomy, where every moment is about Lake Balaton, flavours and being together,” say the organisers.
The aim of the event is to bring life and experiences to the shores of Lake Balaton after the summer season too: Michelin-recommended restaurants, iconic wineries and creative patisseries are coming to tempt visitors with their fig and autumn specialities, refreshing drinks and dishes.
Visitors can meet the chefs, winemakers and pastry chefs of Hungary's leading restaurants in person, and take part in themed tastings as well as professional and entertainment programmes. On stage, jazz and pop acts – Swing a’la Django, Vasovski Live, Babos Piller Jazz – bring the festival's special atmosphere.
Alongside the big evening concerts, family programmes and children's activities enrich the daytime offering. On 12 October, as part of the event, VisitBalaton365 will also announce the winner of its Balaton Cake of the Year (Év balatoni sütije) dessert competition.
“Last year's event attracted several thousand visitors and brought life not only to the beach but also to the area's accommodation and restaurants,” said festival director Vincze Péter.
Ticket sales have begun; according to the organisers, it is worth buying tickets in advance, as last year's event was sold out.
